Pu C. Lalchawimawia Honoured with IIHR Innovative Farmer Award 2025
Pu C. Lalchawimawia, Rabung Village, Khawzawl District, was awarded the IIHR Innovative Farmer Award-2025 at a ceremony held today at Dr. G.S. Randhawa Auditorium, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru.
Pu C. Lalchawimawia cultivated the Arka Abhed tomato variety during off-season on a 0.6-hectare plot at ‘Phunchawng Zau’, earning ₹7,50,000. His success has encouraged many local farmers to take up tomato farming in the area.
The award was given in recognition of his significant role in promoting IIHR’s technologies and initiatives among fellow farmers. Pu C. Lalchawimawia is the fourth farmer from Khawzawl District to receive this recognition. This year, only two farmers from the Northeast region were chosen for the honour by ICAR-IIHR.
