Activist Ruatfela Nu files FIR with ACB over alleged ₹4–5 crore ginger procurement scam

Prominent social activist Pi Vanramchhuangi (Ruatfela Nu) has filed a formal complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), urging an immediate and thorough investigation into the alleged misappropriation of ₹4–5 crore in ginger procurement funds — a claim recently made by Mizoram’s Agriculture Minister. In her FIR submitted today, Pi Vanramchhuangi cited statements made by the Agriculture Minister that were published in local newspapers and circulated widely on social media on 10 and 11 October, alleging large-scale financial irregularities in the purchase of ginger. Calling the revelation “deeply serious,” the activist stressed that those responsible for misusing public funds must be held accountable and face legal consequences.

The FIR further expressed concern over the lack of official action or investigation since the Minister’s public disclosure. “Despite such a significant claim being made by a high-ranking official, no case has been registered, and no investigation appears to have been initiated. This is unacceptable,” the complaint stated.

Pi Ruatfela Nu warned that failure to act on such serious allegations could erode public trust in the government and law enforcement agencies. She emphasized that inaction by the ACB could damage law and order in the state, and reiterated her demand for a full investigation to ensure that those involved in the alleged misappropriation of taxpayers’ money are brought to justice.
